Only about 5% of UK population give blood. Do you think more people should do this as it only takes a few minutes and doesn't hurt? I have just made my 150th donation.

  1. More should give blood. But you can't force people.

I used to give blood and am still willing, but because I had a transfusion during surgery, I'm no longer allowed!

  2. definatly - i only started a couple of years ago - i can't at the moment as i gave birth last year - but i nearly had to have a transfusion myself after birth so it made me even more determined to carry on.

I am thinking of becoming a bone marrow doner too. Being a mum has made me realise how precious life is and i would like to think someone would help my boy or husband if needed.

Well done for 150 donations!!!! wow!

  3. Having needed 5 blood transfusions in the last 12 months I realise the importance of people donating blood. Congratulations on giving 150 times just think how many lives like mine you have possibly saved. You should be extremely proud of yourself

  4. I think many people are really scared of needles.

But yes more people should do this. Save a life. Feel good about yourself....

I've got a website about promises that I've created a page about this and links for further information.

  5. Tou ARE my HERO.  Thank you for saving lives, you have no idea how many people you have helped with your kind and generous donation.

  6. Good for you! I agree with you but and it is a big but.

I have been lucky enough to have worked in an organisation where the Blood Donor People would come to my place of work. And many of us donate.

The problem is that it is not publicised enough where and when you can give blood. And more importantly, unless they come to where you work most narrow minded employers will not allow staff time off to travel to donate.

  7. Yes I do.  But, some people cann't on medical grounds and others can not afford to take the time off work to go to the mobile centres.

  8. I think it would be better to go to workplaces and schools and get people to give it. that way are not going out of their way.
