i'm under the hospital for head pains.

They've been monitoring my blood pressure.

As it was high for my age. (135/93)

so a few months ago, it was (135/93)

at my last appointment,

they monitored it for four hours.

it was 100/6

However when i got a pain in my head, my blood pressure went from that, to 110/78

what's caused the significant decrease, from 135 to 100?

thankyou =]

  1. that could be from a multitue of things,pain will absolutely cause it to rise if it flucuates with the pain maybe it;s when the pain subsides, either way you need to stick with your dr. and let them figure it out that is your safest route.

    good luck!

  2. it sounds like when you get the headpains your blood pressure sky rockets becuse your not relaxed. your probably worried and stressed without knowing it.

  3. It's never a good idea to pay too much attention to just one BP reading. It's always advisable to measure BP over a period of time to get a more accurate result (as has been done in your case) 100 is a normal low reading. Anything below 120/80 is perfectly normal. You mentioned BP being low for your age, it doesn't work like that anymore, maybe in the days my mother trained as a Dr (in the 1970s) it used to be 100+ your age!! but now normal is considered 120 (systole) and below.

    Maybe issues can affect an alternation in BP, maybe the monitored reading were just more accurate.

    And BP going up from 100-110 isn't a really significant increase...the slight increase could of been due to your pain you were experiencing (obviously your body would have reacted to that) Your Dr's will find out if there is any pathology there and if this is related.
