Blood clot in leg, in the calf, how do I know it is gone?

I will be finished taking the blood thinner coumadin in another week (suffered hair loss from it) and then I am alone with the hopes that the clot disappeared. I am wearing support hose that the pharmacy sold me. Now the doctor said he cannot take another test to see if the clot has gone as it is hard to see the clot if the vein is damaged. So what gives? How do you make sure the clot it totally gone?

  1. I assume you had an ultrasound  which was how the clot was found in the first place.

My question is, how does he know if the vein is damaged? How big was the clot?

I imagine that he figures the clot is gone because of the fact you no longer have pain and your blood work came back within the  normal range for clotting time and viscosity..
