Blood in my cat's stool?

We recently got a cat, it is barely over 6 weeks old i think and it was really skinny when we got it, it is fattening up around the stomach but its bones around its tail are still not fattening up but we have only had him 2 weeks. He has had diarrhea since we got him but i thought it may have been that we changed his food (he was eating my adult cat food) so we got some for kittens. I thought that his stomach problems had cleared up but clearly they have not as i observed tonight, he is also having small amounts of blood in his stool. I am wondering if there is anything that i can do to help him or should i get him to the vet asap? thanks for the help! oh yea, he is acting fine and eating and drinking fine, but his stool is just really runny and smelly.

  1. This may be a serious cat disease symptom. The presence of blood in the urine, particularly with the male cat, requires a quick action you should rush to the veterinary.

  2. The cat most likely has an ulcerated digestive tract. If it gets worse, try calling a vet, I know that I can get a vet 24/7 anytime because they usually have a Dr on call. The internet is your friend in this case so get prepaired look some local vets up and have the numbers handy.

  3. try it on toast

  4. One of my past loves, Alex my cat had tiny bits of blood in her stool on and off they never knew what was wrong with her. VET just guessed after many tests, she has an irritation from hair or food.  She lived to be 15, though in her later years come down with inflammatory bowel disease, not sure if the two were related...GOOD LUCK take her in to be safe

  5. you need to take a stool sample to the vet!

the kitten is likely has parasites:Giardia or Coccidia.

these will cause blood in the stool and mucous. You need the vet to give you(kitten) medication for 10-12 days.

  6. I would get him to the vet asap as kittens can get dehydrated very quickly which can kill them.

It's best not to guess what is wrong, but be a good pet owner and get him medical help asap.

    Good luck.

  7. You need to take him to a vet ASAP, its not normal for cats to have blood anywhere unless there giveing birth and there real sick, its not good any time to see your cats blood for the sake of your cat take it to a vet right away
