So I went to urgent care for upper right side pain and a head ache given my blood pressure issues they did a urine test. it came back with protein and a significant amount of blood in my urine(their words not mine) any how they sent me to the er because of the protein in combination with the two pains and high blood pressure (the basic signs of hellp syndrome or preeclampsia). the ER said that the blood in my urine could have caused me to spill protein which was a relief. also they said that I did not have help syndrome or preeclampsia but that I have PIH which is also a good thing how ever I have always heard that blood in your urine means you have a UTI. My doctor had me go in for a urine work up because the ER did not treat me for a UTI and didn't send her my labs. she also said that it may not be a UTI but didn't say what it could be. Do you know of anything else that could cause blood in my urine?

  1. Have you had s*x recently? or a vaginal exam? That can cause blood in the urine. You have more blood flow 'down there' in the cervix area when you're pregnant; it's also more sensitive. Just rubbing the cervix (from a vaginal exam or s*x) can cause blood.

You could also be losing a part of your mucous plug; I started losing mine around 30 weeks. I lost it in pieces; I didn't lose it all at once like a lot of people do.
