  1. Blood pressure is greatest closest to the heart, and decreases as you go more peripherally.  That keeps blood flowing.  If it got higher, blood would flow backward.

  3. That depends.. If you are standing then BP would be greatest at your lower limbs and lower in your head... this is very much due to the effects of gravity..

    whereas if your are lying down on the bed, the type of vessel in which you take the measurement have to be considered..

    Larger vessels have higher BP.. since the BP of a person is taken from one of the larger vessels (brachial artery) in a clinical setting, the measurement can be taken directly as the amount of pressure exerted by the heart
