call a doctor, take an aspirin. (a little aspirin is very helpful, not motrin or tylenol, just aspirin, low dose until you know for sure whats wrong) if you smacked you hand hard maybe its a vein that swollen, but you really need a doctors view.

it could be a hematoma, or so many things, put a cool compress on it. but please call a doctor or some medical service, even the pharmicist could help.

something may be blocking blood return from that extremity - the risk with this is a blood clot which could form and move to your heart - pulmonary embolism. go to ER or urgent care - good luck.

sounds like a blood clot. if ur taking hormones (birth control or something else doctor prescribed) stop taking it. this just happened to my mom. then obviously go see ur DR. maybe u need a lower dosage
