  1. Yes it is -

IF the mother carried A+ O- alleles for her blood type, the dominant allele A+ phenotype will be expressed (she will have A+ blood), but she would still be carrying a recessive O- allele.

The dad must have O- O- alleles to be able to express the O- phenotype,

so when they are crossed it would produce:

    A+O-, O-O-, O-O-, O-O-

So 75% chance the child would have O- blood type.

Hope that helps, off the top of my head so it may not be perfect...

  2. Yes it is  possible for the child to have O negative blood type.

I will try to make it simple.

Regardless blood type (A,B,AB or O), being positive means that either the person is pure positive(++) or hybrid positive(+ -).  And being negative means that the person must be only pure negative (- -), there is no hybrid negative.

    (1) In case of the mother is  PURE POSITIVE(++)  and the father is negative(- -) :

    Here is the possibilities :

    - a person who is A(++), may be pure AA(++), or, hybrid AO(++)

    - a person who is O(-) , must be pure OO(-).

Therefor, in case of the mother is pure AA(++) and the father is O(- -),  children 100% will be hybrid positive AO(+ -).

While in case of the mother is hybrid AO(++) and th father is O(- -), the possibility is  50%  hybrid AO(+) and 50% O(+).

This means in that case there is no chance for the baby to be negative at all.

    (2) In case of the mother is HYBRID POSITIVE(+ -) and the father is negative(- -) :

    these are the possibilities :

    - if the mother is pure AA(+ -) and the father of course is O(- -),  50% may be negative AO(- -), and 50% may be hybrid positive AO(+ -).

    - if the mother is hybrid AO(+ -) and the father is O(- -),  25% will be positive AO(+ -), 25% will be negative  AO(- -), 25% will be positive OO(+ -), and 25% will be negative OO(- -)

In this case the possibility for the baby to be negative is 50%.

While specifically for being O negative, it is 25%.

*to summarize, regardless the child is hybrid positive or pure positive, the child in either is considered having positive blood type.

so that it  really depends on the mother if she is pure positive (++) or hybrid positive (+ -). If she is pure, there is no chance for the baby to be negative at all. While if she is hybrid, the probability for the baby to be negative is  50%, and to be specifically O negative it is 25%.

i hope i helped, i know my presentation is somehow complex but i did my best.
