Bloody queen mary reputation as bloody for and against?

Question

for hwk i have to find out about points for and against queen mary 1s reputationas bloody for killing protestants etc. so i have to do a table for and against. so far, for against, i have she killed many protestants, she reinstated the act of burning of heretics in 1401. so i need more stuff like this please help!

Poor women, I've always felt bad for her b/c she did nothing that her father and countless other kings and queens did. Her husband Phillip of Spain only wanted the Fleet of ships her father created and once she said no he left and was never around after. She did alot of what she did b/c she truly believed that anyone who would leave Rome and the catholic church was "working for Satan" sorta speak. Besides who would you feel if your father called you a b*****d and would not let you see your mother for the last few years of her life.

Since this is homework, I suggest you google Queen Mary 1, Bloody Mary and Elizabeth 1 for a start.  You'll find more info than is practical to list here.  Make a list of pros and cons and you'll quickly get the job done.

As youare assessing her reputation, you might find it useful to google her, and also Elizabeth 1 and Henry V111, and compare how many were executed during their reigns.

You will probably find that Mary's reputation is fairly well exaggerated, just as Elizabeth's is somewhat downplayed.

1401 is far too early.....long before she was born.

She had executed the greatest number of her subjects (on a per day basis) through her reign than any other English monarch.  This is why she was called bloody.
