well this morning when i went to the bathroom i saw alot of blood on the tissue.it almost looked like i had started my period, but thats not what it was.

then i was kinda freaked out so i looked in the toilet and there was ALOT of blood.

it looked like it was actually mixed in the stool too,not just on it.

i really dont know what it could be from and im really worried..

ive been having pains in my stomach for about a month, and at first it made me think i was prego, cuz i had continuous cramps during the first month of my first pregnancy.

im not pregnant,i already found that out.

but now just this morning i have bloody stool, and these cramps seem to be getting worst.

im really worried, and i dont know if i should be.

does anyone know what it might be?

  1. You need to go to your doctor immediately. I would not mess around with bloody stool. It's very imperative that you go and see your doctor, this could be anything including cancer. I was just reading online about rectal cancer because somebody I knew just go it. One of the symptoms was bloody stool. On the other hand it could be something as minor as hemorrhoids. I seriously wouldn't be consulting yahoo about something that concerning and go to your doctor. Why take a chance of making something relatively minor into something major.

  2. You've got to see a doctor, that is often a REALLY serious side effect of some very serious diseases.  It could be that you have really bad hemorrhoids, which isn't life-threatening, but a doctor could still help you with ways to cope with and prevent it.

  3. It could be hemorrhoids, but that wouldn't cause the stomach pain.

Stomach pain along with bloody stool can be symptoms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis).  You need to go to your doctor.  Write down the following to tell him:

How many bowel movements you have in a day.

    How many are formed/dirreaha/in between/other.

Is there pain before you go?  Does going relieve the pain?

    How often is there blood?

Is the blood on the toilet paper (streaky) or in the stool/water.

    Where is the stomach pain?

What does it feel like?  Sharp/Dull/Burning

Do you have urgency?  How long can you hold it for?

Do you ever feel like you have to go but really don't?

This is a good supportive forum if you need to talk to people about your symptoms.  The people are very nice.

Going to your doctor prepared will have him take you and the issue seriously.  It will help him rule IBD out or want to do more testing.

Undiagnosed IBD isn't good. You will just get sicker.

Don't let the doctor tell you it's in your head or that you're stressed out.  Also, don't let him tell you it's IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome, caused by diet) because there is NEVER blood if you have IBS.

    Good luck.

    --EDIT--

Unless you are in severe pain, fever, distended stomach, or you have non stop rectal bleeding then there is no need for the ER.  If you are too weak because of the pain and going to the bathroom non stop then ER may be a good idea.  Otherwise, if it's still just the symptoms you listed then you should be fine for a few days.  In my experience an ER doctor can't help if they don't know.  A few years ago when I was undiagnosed I started bleeding profusely from the bum, with non stop urgency and pain.  Spent three hours in the ER and then was told I had the flu.  THE FLU?!!  ER doctors don't' know anything.

I find a hot water bottle will help with the pain.  If your pain is bad, then eating lightly: ie rice, broth do help a little.  Tylenol is great too.  Do NOT use Advil because if you do have an IBD it will aggravate the symptoms.  Also, do not use Immodium (which is a godsend-wish I'd known) because if you have an IBD it can cause toxic mega colon (BAD).

Don't be scare, but be aware:

After all this, I really hope you have something else other that IBD.  But, it's good to be prepared in case that's what (and it sounds like it) it is.

    Keep me updated.

  4. It could be hemorrhoids , but there is an uncommon condition called meckel's Diverticulum which leads to rectal bleeding. You should definitely see your Dr. and see if he needs to refer you to a Gastroenterologist for a scope. Good luck
