Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club wrapped up at 270 runs - Sri Lankan Premier League Tournament Tier A
Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club scored 270 runs before they were bowled out by Colombo Cricket Club in the Sri Lankan Premier League Tournament Tier A. The match is being played at Navy Ground, Welisara, from 30th April to 2nd
May, 2011.
Colombo Cricket Club won the toss and offered Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club to bat first.
Their openers, Dilshan Munaweera and Nadeera Nawela, put in a solid first wicket partnership of 73 runs. Munaweera was the first batsman to leave back after playing a brisk knock of 61 runs off 60 balls aided with four sixes and five fours.
The next wicket was lost just after one run when Saman Jayantha joined Nawela and both shared a 39 run partnership for the third wicket.
Jayantha was the third batsman to leave after scoring 31 runs off 46 balls with the help of one six and 4 fours.
The fourth wicket partnership between Nawela and Chamara Silva gathered 67 runs. Silva was removed after scoring 35 runs in 40 balls aided with one six and 4 fours.
Nawela held one end and played a supporting innings when the wickets kept on trembling at the other end without any notable partnership.
The sixth wicket was lost at 216 runs when Chethan de Silva came at the crease to stabilise the innings with Nawela. However, Nawela was the next batsman to leave after posting 73 runs and the seventh batsman to be dismissed. The team was bowled out at 270
runs in 67.4 overs as little resistance was shown by the late order batsmen.
Sachith Pathirana ripped through the batting order of Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club, grabbing six wickets while Malintha Gajanayake took two wickets, and Nisal Randika and Romesh Perera, held one wicket each.
Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club now need to come out with aggressive bowling and acrobatic fielding to get Colombo Cricket Club out cheaply.
They will try to achieve a reasonable lead in the first innings, bat well in the second innings and the victory can be achieved only through sheer team work.
