Bloomfield Slams the LTA
British tennis player, Richard Bloomfield, has slammed the Lawn Tennis Association after they failed to recognise his good run of recent form.
Bloomfield has been no stranger to headlines in recent weeks as he has been appearing for the right as well as the wrong reasons. He is in extremely good form, which means he is almost certain to move from being the 12th best British player.
Bloomfield recently made it into the last four of the Hall of Fame Championship semi-finals where he was eventually beaten by American, Mardy Fish. However, the player has said that he does not expect any form of congratulation from the LTA as he is not a high profile individual.
Bloomfield looks as though he has a very bright future in the sport but he is going to need to curb the way he talks off the court if he does not want to get himself into some form of trouble in the near future.
Form
Richard Bloomfield is not a tennis player that many Brits and others around the world would have heard of. This is despite the fact that he is now 27 years of age and has been playing a good standard of tennis for over a decade.
Bloomfield has been thrown into the spotlight as one of the British players who is bang on form. His performance against Fish was very good despite the defeat and many tennis pundits are already predicting that the player will do very well in other ATP tour events leading up to the US Open at the end of the summer.
He is a very powerful and punchy little player. However, he has two main problems, which have held him back so far in his career. He has not been consistent enough to compete at the very highest level over an extended period. It's clear he has the game to do so but he does not always show his skills off.
His fitness is also not as good as it can be. It's important for him to keep working hard at his physical condition because the standard of tennis is so high at the moment. This will allow him to compete for longer as three-set matches turn into five.
Voiced Opinions
There can be no doubt over the fact that Bloomfield likes to voice his opinions and it seems that he does not really care who they are aimed at and what the consequences could be. In a respect this is quite refreshing but it could hold him back if he wants to make something of his career before he turns 30.
During this tournament and Bloomfield's win in Newport earlier in the month, he has not been a stranger to talking openly in the media while he has been playing. There is no harm in this at all unless it does turn out to be something that gets him into trouble.
The point being that Bloomfield needs all of the publicity that he can get. If he can manage to improve on his consistency then his support is slowly going to grow and he'll have a chance of improving his British number 12 ranking before he retires.
Betting Advice
Bloomfield is a very exciting and feisty little player. You should always be wary when he plays in tournaments against some of the best players in the world, but he's worth backing in low profile tournaments. His form is good and he has the game to win these events, but he's never going to beat Rafael Nadal.
