Blow for Waratahs as Al Baxter injured – Super Rugby update
Al Baxter has been ruled out of New South Wales Waratahs due to a swollen foot and a dislocated thumb. He will not be appearing in the clash against Chiefs on Friday at Football Stadium in Sydney.
The Australian club has already seen a few hurdles in this year’s Super Rugby, but this blow might affect them than all the others. They have been deprived of their third forward now after the recent injury of Baxter. The previous two were also sidelined
for the same reason.
Tatafu Polata Nauthe hooker has already missed out on two crucial matches this season after that serious knee injury. On the other hand, Benn Robinson the Australian prop had to sit at the benches for the Waratahs clash with Brumbies last week due to a rib
injury.
The selection committee is expecting for both the players to be available for the next clash in Round Seven. Baxter will be absent though and his shoes will be filled in by Sekope Kepu. Although, the availability of Berrick Barnes is way too important for
Waratahs for this clash, as Baxter won’t be present and the squad will be lacking in terms of experience. The coach is waiting for his full recovery, after he picked up a rib injury due to a head knock during a clash against Brumbies. This is the second time
he got injured in this Super 15 season.
The club doctor seems positive about his recovery and gave a nod to the coach. Barnes was under his supervision today and after consultation he has been forwarded for a few more tests before he is completely ready to take on the next clash. Chris Hickey,
the Waratahs coach, will be finalizing the squad in two days time and he will be given the results for Barne’s test by tomorrow.
Let’s see when does Al Baxter makes his return to the game again.
