Question:

Blow-up Mattress for a Year?

Hey everyone!

I'm moving to Florida in less than a month for school. The apartment I have is unfurnished. Instead of having to lug around a bed and what-not, I bought a $140 blow-up mattress. It just came in the mail the other day and I slept on it....no too bad.

But do you think sleeping on a blow-up mattress for a year would be a good idea? (I'm not tiny nor very fit, irrelevant? Maybe lol)

I'm scared of it popping (NOT cause I'm big, but because...come on I'm a college student) and I'm also scared it's just going to become extremely uncomfortable

Any thoughts? Anyone done it before? Any alternatives?

Thanks :).

  1. I could not afford a mattress for 4 yrs. Long time I know! But I slept on the blow up mattress that entire time. I did notice I got "colder" some times when the weather changed. I doubt you will have this problem in Florida! I am a big person too..I adjusted the air in the bed to fit my needs for as heavy as I was. I also had "sleep overs" if you know what I mean...and it held up fine! Never popped! :)

  2. I have a $1200 one called Select Comfort,(the one where you set your comfort number).  But of course it is   inside a cover. Should be fine using a blow up bed though you paid an awful lot for a regular air mattress. We got a nice one at Target on sale for $29, queen size, and it has worked well for several years though not used all the time.

  3. I stayed on one for 9 months. they are comfortable and have many benefits. dont worry about popping it. they are very strong. they are also good it you are picky about firmness as you can just inflate/deflate however much you want. i liked it cause i also lived in a small apartment and when people came over i could just deflate it and put it in the closet.

  4. It may be uncomfortable for a year. But what are you going to do buy an expensive mattress?! Your a college student, your going to pass out when you hit that pillow anyway! No it will not pop, me and my boyfriend had a blow up mattress when we first moved into our place, and we never popped it! Hope that helps!
