Blu-Ray DVD Records any advice?

Question

I want to buy a new DVD player, now blu-ray is out this would seem the best choice. I would also like the machine to record two channels at once and also play discs whilst recording to the HDD. Does any machine exist that can do this? If so can you give me some ideas. Thanks in anticipation.

LG just presented player capable of streaming , you might try PlayStation 3 ( great games the best Blue Ray player on the market ) but you'll have to buy additional equipment in order to record programs ( it should be out by the end of August just check Amazon.co.uk ) I fink that all bundle should cost you around 300-450£ ( with blue ray remote )

Blu-Ray recorders exist, but only in Asia as of today.  They MAY end up in the West, but don't hold your breath since the studios will fight to keep them out.

So you have to make a choice between playback of Blu-ray movies or recording of HD from HDTV (in which case you need a Personal Video Recorder) or recording of DVDs (in which case you need a DVD recorder). A further option is a recording Blu-Ray drive in a computer ... but this is a more specialized approach with it's own issues.

Personally, I would not be in a hurry to buy into Blu-ray. It's still in the early stages (immature hardware, high prices) and has an uncertain future. Do your research and consider purchasing in 6-12 months. In the meantime consider other options, including an upconverting DVD player (Oppo models are excellent performers) to replace your current DVD player.

what you ask is NOT availbale yet and blu-ray has only recently been adopted as the sole HD format.

only blu-RAy players are around none with record and none with a HDD.

you'll need to wait till nearer Xmas to see if they come out this year but earliest I expect to see them in NEXT YEAR.

best option at moment is to buy as Sony PS3 and the remote and use that as a blu-ray player - its the cheapest option plus you gain a games console as well.

I am waiting for one of those too! but stuck with standard DVD version fo them. Son DVR-870 etc
