Blu Ray DVD?

If I get a Blu Ray DVD and play it on a regular tv will the quality be a little better or will I need a hd tv to see the difference?

  1. it will be slightly better, but you still want to get an hd tv to see it at it's best. though if you have surround sound the sound will be better.  

    I would recommend getting Blu-ray because the tvs are all going HD and in the future you would just have to rebuy into Blu-ray might as well start earily. I stopped buying DVDs 2 years before I bought my Blu-ray player. (PS3)

    and if you go with Ps3 you can use it for the games too


  2. its a hd player. So yes you will need a HD tv. But it does act as a upconvertor to 1080 i on your regular dvds

  3. You will be limited to 480 pixel resolution (vs the potential 1080p native to Blu-ray) but the colours may be slightly superior due to the different colour space on Blu-ray relative to DVD. Audio ... if you have a good sound system will be a bit better than DVD as well.

    But realistically there is no reason to spend $350+ to buy a Blu-ray player, and $5-$20 more for disks, just to watch a compromised version on an SDTV.
