Blu Ray Player skips video after disc is cleaned?

Question

I have a Sony Blu ray player and I am using HDMI inputs except to the tv where I have HDMI to DVI converter.

When I try and play Blu ray discs, the movie will stop and freeze and then advance to the next section. Or, in some cases it freezes and I have to go back to the Main Menu and reselect the scene selection. I have tried to clean the Blu ray discs. I have the Blu ray going into a Sony home theater receiver to a Sony Wide Screen tv. I am running digital optical cable for the audio.

That's what I call pure HD.  The picture is so pristine, you can't even see it.

Just kidding, I'm technologically challenged all this new stuff puzzles me. Too much innovation, too little time.

those symptoms are not related to the connection to the tv, so your problem is the bluray, one of 2 things you have an early generation bluray that needs discs burned at a certain deepness which is probably unlikely but we experienced the same phenomena during the dvd rollout, most likely is a dirty laser lens try a can of blow off, or may be an air compressor and blow the lens with the tray open. also if your tray mechanism is not smooth it may be misaligned therfore causing improper light refraction. At any rate try the blow off first.
