  1. Is your TV 1080i? If not, the salesman told me it wouldn't benefit me at all.

  2. PS3, with HDMI, as it is the cheapest, and has full features.

The PS3 supports both Bonus View and BD LIVE, which make it the best around, and there is a firmware upgrade for DTS HD audio as well. Only PC drives and the PS3 are stable Blu-ray players out there which can be upgraded to incooperate new features. Also the PS3 won't slutter, as it is very powerful (8 core Cell CPU), and you won't have freezing issues like standalone players, and you will have faster response times. It also has a huge hard drive for storing downloaded times, and you can network it with you home network, surf the net etc. Even if you don't play games the PS3 is the best out there, and it's Sony, so it's the best in quality (all of my Sony items are working flawlessly, my DVD player isn't Sony, and it won't even open without banging on the case, around 10 times, and it decides to spiral around the p****y notices around 15 times, so I use my PC for Blu-ray and DVD playback). Go with the PS3, but make sure it has HDMI, otherwise you might not get HD playback if ICT is turned on (the 20gig verson (I think) doesn't have HDMI).

  3. The PS3 is currently by far the best option to go for, if you hang on a few months though, according to the AV press, it's about to be updated with a PVR as well.

  4. Get the Playstation3, its the only one with upgradable profiles.

Profiles are like versions, newer profiles have additional features, such as Profile 2.0, it has BD-Live with allows you to interact with interactive content through the internet, and it can double up as a game console.

I have  one, make sure you get the Blu-Ray remote as an accessory (only costs 20 dollars more) and if you want movies cheaper/earlier and you are willing to import your blu-rays from the States make sure you grab a region A player (from the US or Canada). If you live in the US or Canada then you don't have to worry.

Just so you know, Blu-Rays are around 40AUD /25GPB compared to like 25USD in the states, so yeah just giving you the heads up, just in case you live in a Region B country (Europe, Australia, UK) because it'll save you alot of money in the long run.

Also, do not buy a HDMI cable for more than 30 dollars, they're just ripping you off. I know many salesmen who try to pass me a 300 dollar HDMI cable, so basically I said thanks but no thanks

  5. Sony PlayStation 3.  Not only is it a top notch blue ray player, for just a little larger sticker price you also get a storage device and gaming console.

  6. I suggest the Panasonic DMP-BD30K.  Why?  It plays back all of the following:

    BD-ROM, DVD, DVD-RAM, DVD-R/-RW/-R(DL), DVD+R/+R(DL)/+RW, CD, CD-R/-RW

Up-conversion to 1080p Playback and an SD card slot to boot.

  7. it really depends on you, but hear are some pointers/diffrences:

    the player:

it has surround sound compatability with a conventional connection.

uses much less power then the playstation

    playstation:

you dont just have to watch movies on it, and can play games.

personally i would go for the playstation, but probably depends on prices of both, and if your into games.

  8. Go with playstation 3. It plays blue ray, dvd, compact disc, and it plays games. Most importantly, it's the BEST blue ray disc out there and cheapest!

  9. ps3- hands down the best all around value. not to mention mind blowing games to play too.
