  1. Without HDTV you will not see any difference in the video quality of your blu-ray DVDs.

It would be best when you can afford to buy a blur-ray player and a HDTV , so you can enjoy the superior video of both.

  2. No. You have to go to the store,to buy a HDTV. Ask a dealer

    for more information.

  3. I believe i would get the TV first. it is what makes a lot of difference

  4. Essentially there is very little benefit to watching Blu-Ray over DVD when you only have a Standard Def Set.  Theoretically if you have a really good standard def set, you might notice some slight improvement, particularly in titles that might otherwise show compression artifacts.  Certain films may seem less grainy then there DVD counterparts, particularly if you have a big SD television. In general however you won't see even a fraction of the quality gain you would unless you have an HDTV.

The only possible reason for going Blu-Ray before the HDTV, is if it somehow worked more economically for you in the long run. For instance you plan on spending a couple thousand on a really good HDTV in a year or so but don't have the money yet, but you still move to Blu-Ray now because you would otherwise rebuy the movies your buying now on DVD, once you get HDTV, and in the meantime you can watch the HD discs in standard def.  I suppose that technically could be financially beneficial in the long run, but only in that exact scenario.

But as far as video quality gain now, you won't likely notice much. If you have a really good and fairly new surround sound system though, you might notice an improvement in sound quality.

  5. No HDTV? You might notice a sharper image, (Which there is) but you probably won't. Get that TV first.

BTW, PS3's are nice cheap blu-ray players.

          And don't get HD-DVD, It'll disappear in 3 years.

  6. If you know you're going to get an hdtv in the future might as well get a good blu-ray player.....you won't notice an improvement now but at least you won't have to worry about buying a blu-ray player when you get the tv.
