Does Blu-Ray make a difference on a standard-definition TV versus a DVD? Like, is the picture or sound quality any better than that of a DVD on an SDTV?

  1. Blu ray will make a little bit of difference on a Standard Definition TV versus a DVD on a standard definition TV, but it won't be significant. If you do a A to B comparison, you can see some difference. To really enjoy blu ray movies, you need an HDTV set to plug it in using and HDMI and having a Receiver that takes HDMI audio for TRU HD Dolby processsing  and 5.1 speaker system, then you can see the big difference.

If you connect your PS3 or blu ray player on a standard tv, you will not get the sound difference and only a slight improvement on video.
