  1. i want to say Blu-ray cause statistically its better, but HDDVD is cheaper plus people are used to the DVD name, that and well when you got the p**n industry picking hddvd, its stacked against blu ray

  2. As things stand now, DVD in the medium term, and Video on Demand (VOD) / download services in the long term.

HD DVD and Blu-ray are, and will remain, niche formats supported by the minority of consumers who can benefit and afford to pay the premium prices.

There are complex reasons for this that I'll not go into here again (Search Y!A for "Blu-ray HD DVD" and you'll find your question has been asked and answered at least 150 times before), but unless there is some major change in format support policy by one of the major studios both formats have sufficient market share that neither will "win" (they will coexist) and unless media prices come down to the same level as DVD the average consumer (vs the more affluent early adopter) will ignore HD disks or, at best, only support them as an occasional option.

I expect HD DVD and Blu-ray and dual format HD (actually universal) disk players to eventually replace higher priced ($100 and up) DVD players, but probably not low cost (< $100) players. Remember that both HD DVD and Blu-ray players are also upconverting DVD players ... and will be primarily used as such by many consumers.

Like most things in our society there are a range of options available for viewing electronic media (TV, DVD, movie channels, VOD, HD disks, HD Tapes, even (still) VHS) and many consumers use several of them according to circumstances. HD disks are no different.

  3. Look at the Production companys that are backing Blu-ray and HD-dvd exclusively And pick who makes more movies you like.

BLU-RAY =Disney, Fox, Sony, Lionsgate and MGM

HD-DVD=Universal Studios,,Nickelodeon Movies, MTV Films, DreamWorks Pictures, Dimension Films

Thats the best way to choose which to buy

But as far as which is the best

JVC's Digital VHS VS. Sony's HD Betacam

Does that ring a bell, Who Knows Who will win its just too close right now to say for sure but it sure isent the consumers.
