  1. Well, the fact that I can afford HD DVD and not bluray is my main starting point.  That, and its a standardized format (which is why WB, which was neutral at the time, only released the matrix and batman on HD DVD) as well as the fact that the picture quality is EXACTLY the same.  No difference whatsoever no matter what sales people tell you.  You can pick up an HD-a30 for less than 150 bucks, and its one of the best upconverters on the market, and will make your DVD collection sparkle while you wait 3 or 4 years for bluray to be comparable in price to HD DVD.

  2. A dual format player from either LG or Samsung....the Samsung model has more features.

Why? Larger selection of movies of course. You can play both HD DVD and Blu-Ray on one device.

  3. Bluray is capable of giving you the best possible picture as long as your tv is capable and you are using the correct wiring.

  4. Blu-ray discs will continue to cost more than hd dvds, but that is because, strictly in theory, blu-ray discs have far more capacity, so therefore with new tv technology, they could provide even better picture. But at the current time, the two types are pretty closely matched as far as picture, sound, and speed are concerned. When tv's can start displaying in ultra, super, mega high definition, then blu-ray might have an edge. But by then there will be newer and better mediums to hold the media. So in my opinion, wait another year until any normal person can afford a player and see at that point which one seems to be more popular. GOISE

  5. Blu-Ray

Why? More movies and more and more and more and more.

    HD-DVD is dying, sadly.
