  1. Just so you know, HD-DVD production is coming to a halt because blue-ray won.  Warner Brothers is even going to stop producting HD sometime soon...i believe in April.  There's no point to buying anything HD right now cause its gonna become useless.  Go with Blu-Ray!

  2. Everyone's already given you great advice on what your next step should be, but as far at this "FORMAT WAR" goes, it's over.  Both formats offered pretty much the same features, but we only need one HD disc format.  It doesn't matter who one, but we need to move so HD can catch on with the general public.  Sure Sony (Blu-ray) is evil, but who wouldn't agree that Microsoft (HD-DVD) is just as bad?

75% of Hollywood studios support Blu-ray exlusively

Toshiba is the ONLY electronics company manufacturing HD-DVD players

HD-DVD players and software have already lost to Blu-ray Disc in Japan, Australia and Europe (The U.S. was their last chance at victory).

(Samsung recently decided to pull their "combo player" in light of HD-DVDs drop in software/hardware sales - they have a new model that might come out in the States later this year)

  3. Joint Blueray/ HD dvd players are super expensive... Heres the only one i found : http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddet...

Stick with the XBOX 360(HD DVD) or get a PS3 (Blue-ray)

  4. The combo players are very good but they cost an arm and a leg...if you are that disappointed with HDDVD then get a bluray player too. I would take a look at netflix they have a large selection of HDDVDs

  5. samsung makes dual format DVD players

  6. I have actually done my homework and bought a HD DVD player, bluray is not the winner and if it does win it will be a sad day for consumers. As for the LG combo player don't bother you can't access the special features and it's a piece of rubbish anyway. Unfortunately Sonys propaganda machine is in full swing with bluray, and even sony themselves have come out and said, and I quote, 'A brand new bluray player on todays market MAY not play the latest release blockbusters such as Disneys Pirates of the Carribean.' Because unlike HD DVD, bluray constantly needs to be conected to the internet for firmware upgrades to play the latest titles. Why do you think Sony is pushing their PS3 with ethernet port over their bluray player with no ethernet port, so that nobody finds out about this maybe? and lets look at Sonys track history, they backed beta, svcd, mini disc, dvd+r/w and guess what they all lost. When Toshiba was developing HD they actually said to sony lets work together so Beta vs VHS doesn't happen again and sony told them where to go and now because of their arrogance we have this. The only thing Bluray has going for it is it has more capacity but anyone who actually studies the formats will conclude that HD is superior. Who would buy a standalone bluray player that off the shelf (in sonys own words) may not play the latest movies?
