Blue Blood upsets Bellamore Lad at Belle Vue
Blue Blood upset Bellamore Lad to take victory in the 470 metres Grade A1 greyhound race at Belle Vue on Thursday, January 26, 2012. His victory earned him a cash prize of £108.
The triumphant greyhound seems to enjoy racing at Belle Vue, because in recent times, the rampant runner notched his second consecutive victory at the venue. He was not the favourite, but might earn the confidence of the bookmakers in the future events.
The J. McCombe trained dog completed the race distance in 28.23 seconds, after breaking in from trap number five. His broke swiftly, and then carried on the momentum from then onwards until the end of the race.
Blue Blood was priced at 6 to 1 for this race. He is the son of Droopys Scolari out of Ferndale Whyso and was born in January, 2009.
Second place went to Bellamore Lad, who went into the race with a starting price of 1 to 1. He could have won the race, had he gotten off to a better start. However, things did not go well for the race favourite, as he managed to complete the overall
distance in 28.41 seconds, after popping out from trap number six.
The H. Adamson trained dog is the son of Droopys Maldini out of Longton Queen and was born in August, 2008.
Ballyhill Becky, trained by J. Thompson, had a decent run, but he was unable to take the second spot. She went into the race from trap number four, and completed the race distance in 28.45 seconds. She was given a starting price of 5 to 2.
The third placed greyhound is the daughter of Westmead Hawk out of Have A Fit, and was born in July, 2009.
R. Fielding’s trained dog, Devious Rumble, finished the race in fourth place. He had a clear run, but was unable to match the speed of the top three.
Devious Rumble entered the race from trap number one and completed the overall distance in 28.47 seconds. His starting price was 9 to 2, and was not expected to make a big impression in the race.
The final two places went to Judys Bloom and Tyrur Cooney, who were unable to start well. They failed to challenge the front runners, and finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Overall, the race was quite exciting, as there was a tough battle at the
top of the order.
