Blue Bulls acquire utility forwards player Daniel Adongo to strengthen squad for 2012 season – Rugby News
Pretoria based South African Super Rugby franchise, Blue Bulls, have strengthened their squad for the 2012 Super Rugby season with the signing of the talented Kenyan international utility forwards’
player, Daniel Adongo. Officials at the club have confirmed the signing of the versatile Adongo in a statement released on their official website on Monday, November 14.
Bulls have secured the services of Adongo from the South African Provincial Rugby Union outfit, Natal Sharks. Adongo’s new professional contract with the Blues will keep him at the Loftus Versfeld
until the end of the October 2013.
Blue Bulls’ Heyneke Meyer has praised Adongo’s athletic personality. He expressed his excitement at securing the services of the utility forward and termed him as the perfect fit for the team.
He expressed confidence that his presence will help his side to deliver good performances in their upcoming 2012 Super Rugby season.
Meyer further added, “Dan offers a lot to any team with his size and pace and I am looking forward to see him develop and progress at the Bulls in the next couple of years.”
Bulls finished seventh in the 2011 Super Rugby competition as they failed to finish in the top teams of the tournament which played in the play off stages of the competition.   They won 10
out of their 16 games in the competition and ended on the losing side in other six.  Besides this, they enjoyed two byes and two bonus points, which helped them to finish the 2011 Super Rugby competition with 54 points.
The 22-year-old Adongo is yet to play a Super Rugby game. Although he was part of the Sharks Super Rugby team, which played against the Stormers and Lions as part of their 2011 Super Rugby’s
pre season warm up matches.  He has represented Sharks at under 19s and 21s level. He has been part of the Sharks team that participated in the Vodacom Cup level.  He started in all 10 games for the Sharks in the competition and scored three tries.
Nairobi born Adongo has expressed his excitement on the signing his new deal with the Bulls. He said, “I am very excited about my move to the Bulls. I look forward to the challenge of proving
myself from scratch and it is a privilege to become part of the Union.”
Adongo has the skills and abilities to play at both lock and at prop positions. Additionally he has played in the winger position for Sharks. He expressed his gratitude to the Sharks management
and coaching staff for their support and cooperation.
Commenting on his stay at Sharks, Adongo further added, “I want to thank the Sharks for the chance they have given me to play rugby and all they have taught me about the game through the Sharks
Academy, and also the senior Sharks training squad.”
