Hi, I'm building block paved area in the garden, and trying to plan it out first. I usually put a layer of concrete before motaring the bricks on, but the diy place i go to get the concrete has no concrete but has only got Blue Circle Mastercrete. Can that be used in the same way, and how much would a 25kg bag cover?

thanks

  1. Dazman has a 25Kg shovel!  I would think 4 to 1 a bit strong.

Wickes probably have a leaflet, can endorse paving expert.

By the way Mastercrete is OPC in a plastic bag,

  2. Good guide for the job here:

    http://www.pavingexpert.com/blocks.htm

  3. you should use a 7:1 mix - 4:1 is far too strong & also expensive.

You should bed your slabs/blocks on about three inches of compacted mix. Good idea to hire a wacker plate.

  4. yes that would be fine .

Mixing it at 4 and 1 (4 sand & 1 Cement) would get you a good couple of barrow fulls of mix.

you just about get 4 shovel fulls of cement to a 25kg bag

John doesn't understand what is written....so....john...you just about get........4! shovel fulls of cement.....to....a....25kg bag....of...cement....meaning them 4 shovel fulls will = 25kg bag....hope thats helped you :-)
