Blue Corner to bag another victory in the Friarstown Stud International Stakes
Owned by Sheikh Mohammed, Blue Corner will be heading to the Curragh to compete in the Group 3 Friarstown Stud International Stakes on 1st July, 2012.
The runner has been supplemented into the race, where he will race over 1 mile and 2 furlongs.
The son of, Teofilo, might be just one race old and inexperienced, but the bay colt does not lack talent. He demonstrated impeccable skill in his maiden, and showed his ability to take on large distances.
The Michael Halford trained runner competed in the Kilsaran International Maiden, which covered a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs.
Paired with jockey, Shane Foley, he swiftly covered the track and defeated the J.S. Bolger trained, Something Graceful, by an immense margin of five lengths.
The young runner, who is foaled by Indian Belle, will return to Curragh with the hope of claiming another big victory.
Referring to his maiden, the trainer said:
"His first run was very encouraging and he seems to have gone forward since at home, so it will be interesting now to run him and see where we are.”
Halford seems to be immensely pleased with the performance of his runner, and the trainer noticed that the runner performed well on a ground labelled good, and is hoping that the yielding track at the Curragh will not hinder his run.
The trainer commented:
"We'll keep a close eye on the ground. We wouldn't want it too testing, but he's in good form and I'm pleased and looking forward to running him. We just don't want the ground to deteriorate a whole lot."
This is not the first time that Michael Halford and owner, Sheikh Mohammed, will back a horse together, because the trainer also conditioned, Casamento, and saddled him to a victory in the 1 mile Group 1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster in October, 2010,
who is also owned by Godolphin.
The County Kildare handler is ecstatic about, Blue Corner, and is hoping he lands a big race soon. With his potential, the trainer believes that he will blossom soon.
To the press, the trainer added:
"It's very exciting. He could be another very nice horse, you never know."
