Blue Dune expected to break the shackles in Skyram Handicap
Blue Dune has been rated as the outright favourite to succeed in the Skyram Handicap at Catterick in England on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. She has never won a race in her career, but as got a solid chance to break the shackles this time around.
However, the young filly will need to watch out for a couple of decent runners, who will also be in contention of a victory. They will not make life easy for her in the class-6 encounter, which is scheduled to start at 16:00 GMT.
Looking at the experience of Bijou Dan, it seems that he will definitely get the attention of the punters. He knows how to handle pressure at this level and will be looking to bag the cash prize of £2,045 from the 1 mile, 7 furlong and 177 yard contest.
The track conditions will also suit him, as there has been plenty of rain around, leaving the ground soft.
Despite that, the veteran runner will have to be at his best in order to cause an upset at Catterick. He has been given a general starting price of 9 to 1 and will definitely be fighting for the top three positions.
The 11-year-old gelding first appeared onto the scene back in July 2004 and he seemed to be a pretty average performer back then. He brought up his maiden victory by the end of that season and would have pleased his team.
However, the George Moore’s trainee has not been able to continue winning races with consistency, which is not a positive sign for him. He has enjoyed a very good time in 2012 until now and will definitely exert a lot of pressure on his opponents.
On the other hand, Blue Dune lacks the experience, but is certainly not short of talent. She debuted in 2012 and has appeared in eight races until now. She was unable to make an impression in the first five of them, but her recent form has been terrific.
The Mark Johnston’s trainee secured three back-to-back runners up places recently and her confidence level will be high. She just needs to take one step ahead in order to claim her first ever victory in the sport.
