Yes there are blue diamonds, the colour is caused by Boron in the crystal structure and they are all type IIb diamonds. You need to be very careful when buying ANY coloured diamond these days as over 90% of the stones on sale are NOT their natural colour and the colour is due to radiation and heat treatment. If you want to buy a coloured diamond it must have a certificate from a reliable laboratory (such as the GIA) stating that it is a natural stone and the colour is also natural. Do not accept any other coloured diamond as natural. If you want to buy a treated stone that is, of course, up to you, they do not, however, represent a good investment.
