I have one of those easy set pools from walmart, and it stays sparkling clean. The filters are going quickly tho, because of a blue-gray goo on the paper filters. None of the chemials have blue additives what could it be, and what can i do about it?

  1. IF you use the chlorine tablets ~~some of them have an algae killer additive that turns bluish gray(more gray than blue) You can buy the tablets without the algaecide.

  2. what kind of clorine tablets are you using? are they walmart brand?if so they have a blue algeacie in them so try a different brand and hose off that small filter often.pool company owner eleven years experince

  3. i used to have one of those pools. clean the filter at least once a week with a garden hose. each filter should last at least 2 wks.

  4. only thing i can think of is possibly algae. there is not just one specific product that will take care of this. first off u need to make sure water is in balance. also might should filter the water you're putting into the pool.during hot weather it is not unusual to have algae bloom in your local water supply.

  5. I think it's just a combination of dirt and chemicals being filtered, maybe some algae.  You can squeeze more life out of the filters by hosing them off with the sprayer while they are still wet.  Don't let it dry first or the stuff won't come off.   They won't come totally clean, but clean enough to work like it should.  And you can do this about 3-4 times before you have to replace them.  Saves lots of money, especially when you change the filter every week!
