  1. Lightning normally appears as white, however it tends to appear as a different color because it excites nearby air, which glows as different colors.


  2. The different colours you see with lightning are due to the atmosphere surrounding the electrical charge.  I once saw pink lightning, fascinating, even though I am scared of thunder storms.

  3. Bue lightning is usually seen above the clouds and has an entirely different name they are called Blue Streaks and only appear for a brief second quicker than white lightning.

  4. That really has more to do with the background behind the lightning which gives off a bluish look.
