  1. HD DVD is basically the "BETA" in the VHS v. BETA wars of the 80s.  in five years, no one will be releasing titles on HD DVD and no store will carry HD DVDs.

that said, you'll have to buy a separate BLURAY player because BLURAY dvds do not work in your regular DVD player... but! your reg. dvds WILL work in the BLURAY.

  2. just get an hd tv and dont worry about blu ray. i like a good looking movie but not so good it actually blinds u when looking at the sun on a movie.

  3. Well YESS, you will need to buy a new player, as DVD, HD DVD and BluRay are completely different formats. They require a specific hardware. And they are not inter compatible.... that is a player suited for BLU Ray only supports BLU Ray disc (and DVD disc) but not HD DVD compatible formats. Good example will be.... the fact that DVD disc don't run on the conventional CD ROM Drives, such is the case for BLU Ray and HD DVD

But hey wait.... there are players in the market which support all the formats too.... though may be a little on the expensive side..... Take for example the lg hybrid bluray/ hd dvd player.... there are others too.... But according to me, BLU Ray's got the edge right now in the market... so go BLU Ray....

  4. no you would need a special blue ray dvd player.
