  1. To keep it simple, Blu-Ray has more space, which allows to put bigger files on it. Since the files can be bigger, you can have more quality, but not necessarily.

    A regular, single-sided single-layer DVD is 4.7 GB.

    A regular, single-sided single-layer Blu-Ray disc is 25GB.

    That is the difference.

When it comes to movies, Blu-Ray movies will be in high definition. The quality difference is easily visible, as long as you have an HDTV coupled to your Blu-Ray player. It is definetly worth it if you have a good home theater setup.

  2. Lol... Well on an HDTV a BluRay disc will look better than an upscaled DVD. To some the difference is not worth the several hundred dollar higher price tag of even the cheapest blurayz playerz. But for those who want the best video and audio, yes, the Bluray will out preform the DVD.

The Bluray disc has better "resolution" and the colors will look more... well... pretty? It's very colorful as it can display more colors. However on an SDTV the difference will be none.
