Is there any point to buying a blue ray player if I have a 40" CRT (sony trinitron) or do you need LCD or plasma to enjoy the extra clarity?

  1. Well when I had my xbox 360 I used the VGA cable to connect it to my monitor and it was d**n sharp so all this LCD business just seems a bluff to get more money out of people so I would say no to your answer.

  2. If by CRT you mean it displays high definition,  then by all means  you can enjoy Bluray on your TV.

If your CRT is an SDTV, there's no picture difference between a dvd and bluray.

Screen size is irrelevant in picture quality; it's based on resolution and viewing distance.

  3. All Sony 40" TVs ever made are 1080i and they will blend the data into progressive inside the TV. You will see a much better picture with Bluray than with old fashion DVD.
