Blued or Stainless steel?......?

which is more rust resistant? like when it comes to water?

As long as you clean/dry your guns after being in the field hunting - it really shouldn't matter that much...............

Stainless will always be more rust resistant

All bluing is is a controlled rust/oxidation process

I have lived and hunted in Sitka Alaska - a place where it rains so much the people there will go to Seattle to get some sunshine.  In Sitka most hunting is done from a small boat in salt water - this is death to a blued rifle.

Your best bet is stainless steel.  Anyone recommending a blued barrel these days is very much outdated and has not kept up with current manufacturing practices for firearms.

Stainless is the perfect material for a firearm.  Minor scratches can be easily removed with a green art eraser.  The reason some people do not like stainless is beacuse many stainless owners neglect to clean their rifle after use.....and this causes problem with any firearm..... all firearms need to be cleaned after us.  Just because it is staniless doesn't make it maintenance proof.

You will find stainless is a very good investment.  Especially for a heavy use firearm.

stainless steel. i am in the scrap metal business and i know my metals. stainless will not rust unless super heated and will not scratch unless grinded on

stainles is more resistant. Bluing, will rust quickly if it gets wet, and is not wiped often. Even stainless will start to rust eventually, if not wiped down and lubed with breakfree clp or similar oils.

It depends on the carbon content and grade of stainless. Some stainless material will rust, some are rust resistant as well. Either way you choose a blued, stainless, or parkerized finish you still need to keep the weapon cleaned, lubricated, and properly maintained.
