  1. Underutilized in Toronto.  Most of us here in T-O recognize McDonald's value to the team.  Unfortunately the only opinion that matters in this town is that of our illustrious GM.  He's one of the greatest minds in baseball you know.  Don't believe me, just ask him.

  2. In my opinion he is the most under-rated defensive SS in the game today. I wish he could get a gold glove award but with over-rated rep Derek Jeter has I don't see that happening any time soon.

Oh yeah and for the record I love Mr. November but I think over the past couple of years he has become over-rated, but he is one of the greatest of all time.

  3. John McDonald is a defensive wizard and is a privilege to watch in the field. He is one of the more under-rated defensive shortstops in the league.

He is not very good a swinging the bat but as of late he has been making good contact and getting some base hits. As of yesterday he had raised his average from .212 to .231 which is a good improvement for him.

Last season they showed a highlight package on the jumbotron at Rogers Centre. It was all of his defensive masterpieces and I believe his 1 home run was also in that. I was probably about a minute or two and it was amazing.

  4. hes g

    ood

  5. I liked watching him when he played in Cleveland. He was great with the glove but unfortunately, his offense was very lacking. I was sorry to see him go, though, and I wish him the best.

  6. I had a chance to meet once when he was with the Tigers back in the day,

    he is very nice guy,

I  also agree that  he is  underrated  and deserves to win a Gold Glove , I wish him the best,,

  7. waaaaaaay underrated

also i just want to say theres this kid at my school whos a jerk and his name is john macdonald

hopefully the baseball player isnt like that

  8. He is a great Second Basemen

  9. he's highly underrated like some of his teammates..

always seems to do something when the Jays come to town or when the angels step by the Rogers Centre

he's a real good defensive shortstop.. plays hard too :)

  10. Just simply amazing! I've sen him in many games and he's just incredible. Last season was really a great season by itself to see like 10 or 15 John MacDonald's game fielding highlights.

    Tell you, he's really something.

Hope he progresses along the course of the season.

  11. Great on defense. Lacks range, but plays a safe distance back, so he can get to the ball. Very strong arm for a shortstop.

Doesn't strike out much, but almost never walks. Can't hit for power (not even doubles), but makes contact pretty frequently. Even if it's just a grounder.

  12. Just like Nick Punto...underrated

  13. As the announcers say "He's the magic man with the magic hands and he's done it again"

But yeah, he puts a huge effort in any ball towards him. A few days ago they had the shift on and the player behind him could have easily got it but Johnny Mac dived for it and got the out. And now his offense has been going up because he never gave himself enough credit as a hitter.

At least the Jays are using him everyday now hopefully he gets more attention and can get a gold glove

  14. He defiently is one if not the most underrated infielder in this game.  Wish he get a few gold gloves before he retire so atleast his name will stand out more.
