http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that the ongoing speculation regarding his position at the club does not affect him at all.
According to the Portuguese manager he said he would be happy with a third place finish in the English Premier League, something he considered a realistic target. The Blues are currently at fifth place on the Premier League table as they prepare to take
on Bolton Wanderers over the weekend.
The 34-year-olds future at the club has come under speculation since the Blues’ string of poor results in all competitions. While they failed to make it past Championship side Birmingham City in the FA Cup, they lost to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 in the first leg of the round
of 16 in the UEFA Champions League.
While they still have the second leg to go before their fate is decided, their chances of going through to the next round look slim. This has led to many sources claiming Andre Villas-Boas would soon be sacked. However, that has not bothered the manager
who claimed he was still focused on helping his side secure a Champions League spot.
Villas-Boas said while speaking to reporters:
“[The speculation] doesn't affect me at all. Of course, we are disappointed with the result but there is a second leg to play and the full extent of the morale will be known by then.
I have spoken with the people near to him [Abramovich] who are of course disappointed with the result and were asking questions about how we set up the team, which were duly explained.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur will travel to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in a match of third place against the fourth place side. Their result could make all the difference for the Blues as they look to return to a UEFA Champions League spot.
He revealed:
“There is a big battle between fourth and seventh .The objective is to limit the damages and to get to fourth position and maybe third eventually.
If http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 win against Tottenham and we win, we are only seven points behind [Tottenham] with one game against them to play."
