Blues overcome the Hurricanes – Super Rugby news
The Blues have routed the Hurricanes in Super Rugby match played at Eden Park Auckland. The Blues overcame the Hurricanes with comprehensive margin of 41-17.
The Hurricanes looked off the colour after their hooker Captain Andrew h**e was yellow carded in the second half. The Blues scored some quick points in the later part of the game and grabbed the much-needed victory.
The winners Blues scored three tries within last 14 minutes of the match with the help of Lachie Munro, Alby Mathewson and Jarrod Payne. Auckland Blues prevailed over the game since the early moments of the clash. They were straight away underway scoring
the tries, penalties and conversions since the 10th minute of the play.
The Wellington Hurricanes made an effort of comeback just before the interval and narrowed down the lead to 20-14. Right after the break the Hurricanes scored another 3 points on penalty and score reached to 17-20 for them.
After that, the Hurricanes could not add any point to their total while on the other end Blues were at their best. As soon as the Hurricanes’ captain Andrew h**e left the field in the 66th minute of the match when he was given a yellow card there was flood
of scores for Blues.
The swift passes and nice handling of the ball produced real chances for Auckland conference and they utilized each and every opportunity. In the end, the match proved easy sail for the Blues and their captain Keven Mealamu and Tony Woodcock celebrated his
100th Super Rugby match with a tremendous victory.
The Blues are standing on overall fourth position after impressive victory and Hurricanes on 9th. The Sharks are leading the points table with 4 victories after five matches of current Super Rugby.
The Blues’ captain Mealamu said in a pitch side interview after the match that, “We knew it was 100 games tonight for Woodie (Woodcock). We really wanted to celebrate it and we had some tough times in the middle there but we really stuck to our guns and
we were able to come away with the win.”
He recounted that, “We had a tough week and we really wanted to show playing back in front of our crowd, in front of our people, that we could produce a good one.”
