Blues striker Didier Drogba to leave Chelsea, agent hints
Chelsea hit-man http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 could be heading towards a Stamford Bridge exit, his agent hinted. The 33-year-old was in talks with the club regarding a new contract but apparently the two parties have not been able to reach an agreement, which could mean that Drogba could be ending his career elsewhere rather than at the London club.
The player’s agent confirmed that Drogba was already considering all other options and would most likely choose a club where he was offered the most money. The Blues have just a few months left to convince him otherwise, as his current contract expires in the summer.
The player’s agent said in an interview:
“Didier has had the offer of a one-year extension from Chelsea. That does not suit us. We know what we want, where we want to go and what offers we have.”
Drogba’s agent, Thierno Seydi, admitted he was looking at potential offers from various clubs across Europe after they failed to reach an agreement with Chelsea. The Blues are reportedly offering a one year extension, which Drogba is not happy with.
Seydi revealed:
“At Didier's age, he has nothing left to prove as a player. He will go where he is offered the most money.
It could be the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Qatar-c2986 or somewhere else in Asia. Once you are well into your thirties you have to go to a club where you can be certain you'll be able to pay your bills.”
According to Seydi, Drogba does not have much to prove and his close to retirement. This is the reason why he was most likely to leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 for a big money move, depending on whoever was willing to pay the most. There have apparently been offers from Russian, American and various other clubs.
He added:
“LA Galaxy are a possibility among many others. He has been linked with Anzhi Makhachkala in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991, as they pay well.”
Drogba signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2004 for a fee of £24 million from Ligue 1 side Marseille and to this date has gone on to make 316 appearances, scoring 146 goals in the process and providing 68 assists.
