  1. It sounds like you don't have the PS3 setup correctly or don't have it hooked up to a HDTV.

Bluray has six times the resolution as regular DVD and with it hooked up to an HDTV the picture should be alot more clearer than standard DVD.

If it is hooked up to an HDTV I would go back through the setup of the PS3 and make sure you have the resolution setting to the HDTV's native resolution 720p, 1080i or 1080p.  Trust me you should be able to notice a huge difference.

Also the PS3 can decode and play the new lossless audio codecs which can be up to 24 times the audio of regular Dolby Digital and DTS sound.

With regular DVD you can hear rain falling all around you, with lossless audio you can hear each individual raindrop hitting the ground, it's that good. (hint make sure you calibrate the sound).

I would also make sure you have the PS3 hooked up via HDMI or component cables at the minimum, if you have them hooked up via the supplied composite and audio cables that came with the PS3 player, you are not getting HD quality but the 480i quality which is what regular DVD is and you won't notice a difference.

If you have things hooked up correctly please remember that some movies were released on BluRay with very poor picture quality.  Try getting Disneys Pirates of the Carribean or Cars and you should be able to see a huge difference in video and sound.

  2. well actualy dvds are still out because bluerays are to expensive and barely coming out. one thing for sure is that you will see them later. the tv you have makes the diffrence
