Question:

Blurry cable channels for HDtv-How to fix?

I have a 36 inch flat screen LCD RCA T.V and for normal cable the channels are a bit fuzzy. I've looked around and saw that there is a cable that may help me, an HDMI cable. Now I'm wondering, if I buy that cable while not having an HDtv service (just normal cable) will it increase the quality of my picture on my normal cable? Also is there anyway to change my Tv from 480i or whatever to 1080i? or 780i? I don't see that option anywhere.

Also, when I change my Xbox 360 settings to 780i or whatever the 700 is, it makes my Xbox 360 picture fantastic.

  1. Right now, all you're getting is standard definition TV. Changing to an HDMI cable will not make a difference.

If you want fantastic TV to match your Xbox picture, you need to get HD service from your cable company. There's no way to "change" your TV from 480i except by getting it an HD input.

Incidently, if your TV has a QAM tuner, and you feed the cable signal directly into the tv's cable input, you'll receive whatever DTV, including HDTV, your cable provider sends out unscrambled.

  2. is the display unit high definition?

is there an high definition output on your cable service?

most likely the cable is mostly standard definition , so unless the source is high def and the display is high def you will not see best pictures, also crappy cables can cause poor pictures. while some high def sevices are available on cable ,its mostly standard def. however using good cables and the best quality output on cable will give a good picture

better than normal terestral anologue television.
