Blyth needs to make extra effort on the Asian Tour Qualifying School
Australian Adam Blyth will need to make an extra effort on the Asian Tour Qualifying School if he wants to receive a tour card for the year 2012.
Three rounds have been completed and Blyth was unable to make impressive strokes. At the end of the day, Blyth’s
scores were 72 at par and 214 strokes in total. He tied for the 40th position on the leaderboard.
This is the second time that his tour card is at risk. Last year, he was unable to qualify for the season tournaments and now this time he needs to stay at the current position or higher to qualify for the 2012 season.
Blyth accepts that he will be facing tough competition in the final round of the tournament. The main rivals listed are: American Dodge Kemmer and two Japanese, Yosuke Tsukada and Masanori Kobayashi.
Kemmer and both the Japanese players were tied, scoring 205 at the Springfield Royal Country Club.
Blyth needs to compete against the top rivals to secure his tour card, as it was 2005, when he played a debut year at the Asian Tour. He can be successful this year if he delivers his best.
"The pressure is different in qualifying school. In normal events you have the following week to make up for if you do badly and that's why most of these guys here are pressured to perform. I would really like to come back and play here," Blyth said.
"The game is in really good condition so hopefully it will all come together tomorrow. The pressure is piling up especially with one more round to go but you need to stick to doing what you got to do. I'm not really worrying about anyone else," he further
said.
Blyth’s scores include a 3-over par in the first round. He performed well in the second round of the tournament by carding a 5-under par and six impressive birdies. He also finished the third round at par by scoring only two birdies.
The Australian qualified for the final stage of the tournament where the rest of the players failed to make the cut. The final round will again comprise of 18 holes and is par 72.
If Blyth remains at the current position or if he manages to boost his position on the leaderboard, then he will be enjoying the season’s tournaments of the Asian Tour 2012.
