does the starter have a fuse or a relay, can't find one. And no not the dme etc. a direct relay or fuse. I bought the haynes repair manual for 3 series but it is not the same as my car. the fuses/relays in the book for starter show under the drivers panel under/behind the steering wheel. None there and under the passenger none under there behind ac vents.

under the drivers panel there are a total of like 4 relays in different places and a couple fuses but all in different places and none how the manual show.????

  1. There is no fuse or relay for the starter. It is always powered on.

But the solenoid completes the circuit to make the starter crank the engine (in effect the solenoid is the high current relay as in most vehicles). And the DME switches on the solenoid, just like in a standard relay.
