Board President squad for Australia's warm-up game announced
The Indian team for the Board President’s XI game against the touring Australian side has been announced. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623 has been named the captain of the side, and there is no place for Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma in the side.
The three-day tour game will begin on September 25 in Chandigarh and is the only warm-up match that the Aussies play before the start of their two Tests and three ODIs against India.
The 14-man team also has fast bowler, Jaidev Unadkat, who has yet to play in a single domestic first class game. Unadkat was a part of the Kolkata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
Rather surprisingly, the side includes only six frontline batsmen out of the 14, and a bowling all-rounder. This makes it a surprisingly selection given that if Virat Kohli – one of the six batsmen – ends up playing in the semi-final of the Champions League T20, then he will also miss out on the game.
Gambhir will lead the team in the game, but it will be his batting that the selectors will be keenly eyeing. He should be a certainty in the Indian line-up for both the Test matches, but given the injuries that he has had, he has been woefully out of touch.
The bowling department is packed with choices for the BP XI, and has four pace bowlers and three spinners. One gets the sense that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Sreesanth-c2398, Unadkat and Abhimnayu Mithun could be the three bowlers.
Wriddhiman Saha, who has played one Test match in his career, is the wicket-keeper.
Board President's XI:
Gautam Gambhir (capt), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jaidev-Unadkat-c1626, Sreesanth, Umesh Yadav, Abhinav Mukund, Ravindra Jadeja.
