Board has nothing to do with Asif’s CAS appeal – PCB official – Cricket News Update

on him by the apex governing body, the International Cricket Council.
"He is fighting his own case and we have nothing to do with it," said a top PCB official when asked to comment on Asif’s decision to pursue his appeal against the lengthy ban imposed by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625.
The official said that the board did not have any contact with Asif and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-Butt-c2418 – the then Pakistan skipper and the leading character of the 2010 spot-fixing scandal. He, however, confirmed that the board had been arranging counselling
sessions for teenage pacer Mohammad Amir, another Pakistan player banned by the governing body for his involvement in the fixing scam.
"We have had no contact with Asif or http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-c88163 and as far as Amir is concerned, he has been asked to attend counselling sessions with a sports psychologist appointed by the board. He has so far done three to four sessions with the psychologist," said the official.
Former Test captain Salman Butt and the new-ball duo of Mohammad Asif and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675 were all handed lengthy bans from international and domestic cricket by the anti-corruption tribunal of the ICC in February 2011 for conspiring to bowl few no-balls during
a Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, in August 2010.
Asif, 29, who was jailed for 12 months by a London court in November last year after being found guilty of conspiring to cheat and conspiring to accept corrupt payments to deliver pre-planned no-balls, on Thursday revealed that he had decided to pursue his
appeal against ICC’s ban and his lawyer was seeking a date from CAS for the appeal hearing.
"I don't know when the date will come, but we have decided to pursue this appeal which we had filed last year but which was not pursued due to the criminal proceedings against me," Asif told PTI from London.
Asif’s lawyer of Indian origin, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RD-Shah-c2298 Gill, hoped to get the date for hearing soon.
