Question:

Board is dished?

So I took my board to the shop for a p-tex job, wax, and tuning, and when I went back to pick it up, the guy told me everything is fine, but my board is slightly dished. What's that mean? He said something about the bindings having something to do with it, but I don't get what he means by dished. I have never heard this term before. He also said some boards tend to do it more often than others. So...what's it mean?

  1. The bottom of your board (from edge to edge) is supposed to be flat and what's happened is that it's curved and isn't flat anymore (if you lie it across a table you might be able to see the curve).  It's usually from the pressure of your bindings pulling on the board but isn't really something HUGE to worry about.  Some shops might be able to fix it but it's not the easiest thing to fix and if your riding isn't suffering for it just start saving for a new (better!) board.
