Board of Control for Cricket in India doubles prize money of ICC World Cup 2011 winning squad
The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday announced to double the prize money of the ICC World Cup 2011 winning http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 squad from Rs. 10 million to Rs. 20 million each.
The decision to increase the reward of World Cup players was taken amid speculations that the cricketers were not happy with the amount announced by the BCCI earlier in April 2011.
The BCCI secretary N Srinivasan told the media reporters that the Board, in its working committee meeting held in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 on April 27, 2011, decided to increase the incentive to Rs 20. million per player.
“The cash incentive to the members of the World Cup winning Indian team has been increased from Rs 1 crore per player to Rs 2 crore per player,” said Srinivasan while talking to media reporters after the working committee meeting.
The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led India side had started the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2011 as pre-tournament favourites and proved the tag by lifting the coveted trophy in the end. On their way to the World Cup final against co-hosts

However, it was reported that several top India players were not satisfied with the cash reward announced by the BCCI. It was also reported that the players had made an informal demand to the Board to increase the amount to Rs. 50 million
at least for winning the mega cricketing event for the first time in 28 years.
The reports were discarded by the BCCI at that time, but now it has doubled the award for each player of the Indian side.
