Boarding School Questions

Okay, a couple questions.

1. I really wish I could go to boarding school. I've done a ton of research over the last couple years, gotten information, and I've narrowed it down to the one I want to go to. BUT my parents don't want me to. I know, I know, someone will say "just listen to your parents", but that's not the advice I want. I was wondering, if you went to/are going to boarding school, how did you get your parents to let you?

2. For people who went to/are in boarding school, what do you think of it? Do you like it? And the whole homesickness think...does it bother you?

3. The school I'd like to go to is the Fountain Valley School of Colorado. Does anyone go there/went there? And if you have, can you tell me what it's like?

  1. I got my parents to let me go to boarding school by many, many hours of convincing. It's hard to deny that boarding school education is far superior to public or private school which is probably why my family supported me. Boarding school was a great experience. Homesickness was only an issue for me the first night, and beyond that I was fine. Some people will take longer than others to adjust. I think it was the busy schedule that kept me from being homesick. That is key if you are worried about whether or not you will be homesick. Keep very busy with extra curricular activities and sports and school, and you will not be homesick.

As for the school you wish to go to, it seems very picturesque and very nice. It would be smart to visit the campus before you apply. If you live within a few hours drive then this would be very good to do, if you live much farther away then it is obviously much harder.

Getting your parents to let you go will be a very tough job, but if you succeed in convincing them, it will be all worth it in the end. Best of luck.

  2. i good to boarding school and i really like it. i go to school in connecticut so i don't know of the Fountain Valley School of Colorado. Its kind of a thing were i live that everyone goes to boarding school so it was a given for me so didn't have to do any convincing. I love school about 100X's better than my home. You are with your friend all the time, and there always there for you. And i don't get homesick, and i don't know anyone that does. But colorado is great everyone goes skiing there so that should be a blast. so good luck
