Boardshorts question?

I've already asked this question, but I didn't get many answers, so I'm trying again.

I normally just wear boardshorts to the beach, but I've noticed a lot of people seem to have started wearing boarshorts with boxer shorts, and the waistband of them showing above the boardshorts. Does it look good or is it just stupid?

I've got board shorts myself, they are the tie up kind, I don't let them get low on my hips if I can help it. It seems to be fashionable to allow them to go below the hips, but I personally don't care for it. Lots of towns and cities are baning them and I don't blame them.
