i live in florida and do a lot of salt water fishing and boating. so i need speakers that will be able to withstand the saltwater environment. the problem i have is that my center console is NOT SEALED and i have NO WAY to seal it. i want to get regular marine speakers to install in the center console but i hear that they need a enclosed environment on the back side to sound good. what should i do and what can i do? also these are the speakers i want.

  1. Check out these guys : http://www.rocktheboataudio.com/

Also ... note that nearly all flush mounted speakers are open in the back. Only the front side is water-proof. There may be flush mount speakers that are closed in the back. There are various instrument covers that you can use to cover the backs. You might consider box speakers. the problem there is where to mount on a center console??

  2. My suggestion is to leave your expensive sound system and CD's on land, and blend in with nature when boating. If you are fishing, you will not have any room for a CD library on a 17' boat. Save all of this for when you get a 38' Bertram.
